TMC honours 17 teachers with Adarsh Teacher Award

Thane: On Teacher’s Day, the Thane Municipal Corporation celebrated the exceptional contributions of educators by awarding the ‘Adarsh Teacher Award 2024’ to 17 teachers from municipal and private-aided schools across Thane. This recognition included 13 teachers from municipal schools and 4 from private institutions.

The awards were presented by Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode and Deputy Commissioner (Education) Sachin Pawar. In his address, Additional Commissioner Rode congratulated the recipients and praised their dedication to education. He also reviewed the various initiatives undertaken by the Municipal Corporation’s Education Department to enhance educational standards.

The event featured a keynote speech by Dr. D.K. Soman, a renowned astronomer, who commended the municipal administration for maintaining the tradition of honouring teachers who play a crucial role in shaping future generations. Dr. Soman also highlighted the positive impact of the 'Science Forum' activities, which engage both students and teachers in various educational pursuits.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar emphasised the importance of recognising teachers who effectively incorporate educational technology into their teaching methods to prepare students for the digital age. During the ceremony, eight teachers, one from each group, were awarded certificates in recognition of their innovative contributions.

The programme was introduced by Education Officer Jotsna Shinde-Pawar, who reviewed the accomplishments of the Thane Municipal Education Department and highlighted the achievements of teachers dedicated to student development.

The event was attended by notable figures including Sunil Fapale, President of the Thane District Teachers' Union, Babaji Fapale, former President of the Thane Palghar Teachers' Credit Union, and Jagannath Jadhav from the Thane Palghar Credit Union.

The successful execution of the programme was ensured by meticulous planning and coordination by Education Department Superintendent Vijay Salve, Group Officer Sangeeta Bamane, Accounts Officer Sandeep Kadam, and all Group Heads. Heads of URC 1 and 2, Project Officers of Samagra Shiksha, and CRC Centre heads also contributed to the event’s success. The coordination was managed by Suresh Patil of Thane Municipal School No. 23 and Neelima Patil, CRC Centre Coordinator.
