The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has launched a comprehensive special campaign aimed to collect maximum property tax. Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has urged citizens who have yet to pay their property tax for the financial year 2024-25 to promptly settle their dues to avoid penalties and other legal actions.

In a statement, Commissioner Rao thanked the taxpayers who have already contributed, acknowledging their cooperation with the Municipal Corporation. He emphasized the importance of timely tax payments for the smooth functioning of municipal services.

As part of the recovery campaign, the TMC has begun taking strict measures against those who have failed to pay their property taxes. This includes issuing warrants for recovery, seizing assets, and selling those assets in public auctions after proper assessment.

Rao appealed to those yet to pay their taxes to avoid these unpleasant actions and settle their dues as soon as possible.

Taxpayers can pay their property taxes at any ward office in Thane from Monday to Saturday, between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Payment options include cheque, demand drafts (DD), debit/ATM cards, credit cards, and cash. For added convenience, taxpayers can also pay online via the official TMC portal at [https://propertytaxthanecity.gov.in](https://propertytaxthanecity.gov.in), or through popular payment apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and BHIM.

The municipal corporation has already set up provisions for advance payment of property tax. Taxes for the first half of the year (April 1 to September 30, 2024) and the second half (October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025) have been made available for payment.

For taxpayers who missed the July 31, 2024, deadline for the first half-year tax, penalties or interest charges began accumulating from August 1, 2024. Similarly, taxes for the second half, which are due on October 1, 2024, will attract penalties or interest charges starting January 1, 2025, if not paid by December 31, 2024.
