In a bid to ensure financial prudence while prioritizing essential services and development, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) unveiled its revised budget of Rs. 5,025 crore for the fiscal year 2024-2025, with a resolute commitment to fiscal discipline. Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, in his presentation, emphasized a strategic focus on revenue generation, efficient expenditure management, and the enhancement of public welfare initiatives.

The budget reflects a meticulous approach towards financial management. Notably, despite economic challenges, there will be no increase in taxes or fares. This move aims to alleviate the burden on citizens while maintaining essential services at their current level.

Key highlights of the budget include initiatives aligned with the Chief Minister's Changing Thane Mission, the Matrutva Suraksha Yojana for maternal welfare, and a revolutionary waste collection system as part of the zero-waste campaign. Furthermore, special attention has been directed towards enhancing transport services for women, empowering women self-help groups through zero-interest loan schemes, and improving facilities for senior citizens.

The budget also encompasses the Mukbadhir Balak Mukta Thane Mission, indicating a steadfast commitment to inclusive development. Additionally, investments in infrastructure, exemplified by the construction of the C.D. Deshmukh Administrative Training Institute's new building and hostel, underscore the municipality's dedication to enhancing administrative efficiency.

In financial terms, while certain departments experienced a decline in income, the overall revenue outlook remains stable. Revenue income for the fiscal year is expected to reach Rs. 3092 crore 39 lakh, with prudent management ensuring minimal deviation from initial projections.

Regarding expenditures, the budget maintains a balance between revenue and capital outlay. Notably, capital expenditure has seen an increase, attributed to higher capital subsidies, signalling continued investment in developmental projects aimed at benefiting the community.

Commissioner Abhijit Bangar reiterated the administration's commitment to transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric governance.
