Thane Municipal Commissioner (TMC) Saurabh Rao has directed all concerned departments, including the civic body, PWD, Metro, and MMRDA, to complete all road repairs across the Thane municipal area by May 15 to ensure smooth traffic flow.

On March 28, Commissioner Rao, along with senior officials, inspected key locations such as the Eastern Express Highway, Kapurbawdi Junction, Ghodbunder Road, service roads, and Gaimukh Ghat to assess monsoon preparedness. Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode, Municipal Engineer Prashant Sonagra, Traffic Police Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Shirsat, and officials from MMRDA, Metro, and Mahavitaran were present.

A joint inspection from Cadbury Junction to Gaimukh identified congestion points and discussed solutions. Commissioner Rao instructed the completion of road repairs, concreting, drain cleaning, and flyover construction by May 15. Regular fortnightly inspections will ensure timely progress. Coordination meetings on Ghodbunder Road traffic issues will be held regularly.

Majiwada to Cadbury Junction Service Road

• Ongoing water pipeline work has led to road excavation.
• Completed sections must be restored immediately for traffic movement.

Kapurbawdi Junction

• More wardens are to be deployed for smooth traffic until metro work is complete.
• Metro officials confirmed a small bridge near the Paper Company will open for light vehicles by April 20.

Flyover completion deadlines

• Bhayanderpada Flyover to be completed by April 15.
• Kasarvadavali Flyover to be completed by May 15.
• Metro corridor road leveling is to be completed before monsoon.

Gaimukh Ghat repairs

An 800-metre stretch is under repair, similar to last year.

During the inspection, officials also reviewed metro work at Kapurbawdi Junction, the Sinewander Mall to Nalpada Junction corridor, and service roads at Ghodbunder Road. Commissioner Rao spoke about the need to quickly relocate Mahavitaran work near the Kasarvadavali flyover and ensure pothole-free roads before the monsoon.
