Transport Department urges citizens to use alternative routes
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries scheduled to attend the inauguration of the ISKCON temple in Sector 23, Kharghar, on January 15, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police has implemented significant traffic diversions to manage the anticipated large crowd and prevent congestion. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Tirupati Kakade has appealed to citizens to use alternative routes and adhere to the traffic plan.
Restricted Entry for General Vehicles
According to the Navi Mumbai Transport Department, several roads around the venue will be restricted to VIP vehicles, police, essential services, and event attendees only. General vehicles will not be allowed on:
- The road from Ove Gaon Police Chowki to J. Kumar Circle to Green Heritage (both lanes).
- The road from Gurudwara Chowk to J. Kumar Circle to B.D. Somani School (both sides).
- The road from ISKCON Temple Gate No. 1 to Gate No. 2.
Alternative Routes for Motorists
To minimize inconvenience, the following alternative routes have been suggested:
- From Prashant Corner to J. Kumar Circle: Vehicles can proceed via Ovegaon Police Chowki near Prashant Corner.
- From Shilp Chowk to J. Kumar Circle and Ovegaon Police Chowki: Vehicles can take right or left turns from Green Heritage Chowk.
- From Gram Vikas Bhavan to Green Heritage Chowk to J. Kumar Circle: Vehicles can proceed via B.D. Somani School.
- From Central Park Metro Station to J. Kumar Circle: A right turn via Gram Vikas Bhavan has been designated.
- From Gurudwara to J. Kumar Circle: Vehicles can turn left at Gurudwara to proceed via Gram Vikas Bhavan.
No-Parking Zones
The following stretches have been declared no-parking zones:
- Both lanes from Hiranandani Bridge Junction to Utsav Chowk to Gram Vikas Bhavan to Gurudwara to Ovegaon Chowk.
- The road from Ovegaon Police Chowki to Ove Cricket Ground (Helipad) Corporate Central Park Sector-29 to the event venue.
- Both lanes from Gram Vikas Bhavan to Green Heritage to Central Park Metro Station.
- Both lanes from J. Kumar Circle to Green Heritage.
Essential service vehicles, including fire brigades, ambulances, and police vehicles, are exempt from these restrictions.
