Traffic cops crack down on errant motorists

In a concerted effort to enhance road safety, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department launched a special campaign on Thursday, February 6, resulting in action against 1,444 drivers for various traffic rule violations. The initiative, aimed at reducing road accidents within the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, focused on enforcing compliance with traffic regulations.
The campaign, which ran from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., targeted a range of infractions, including failure to wear seat belts, not wearing helmets, rash driving, lane cutting, and the use of black film on vehicle windows. Officers from all units of the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department participated in the operation, which yielded significant results.
Among the violations recorded, 554 drivers were found not using seat belts, while 759 were caught riding two-wheelers without helmets. Additionally, 34 cases of rash driving, 78 instances of lane cutting, and 19 vehicles with black film on their windows were reported. Fines were collected from all offenders as part of the enforcement action.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Tirupati Kakade emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules to prevent accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow. He urged drivers to cooperate with the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department and commit to responsible driving practices.
