Barrier Bridge
Significant traffic diversions have been announced for several bus routes due to ongoing bridge construction work at Sion Barrier Bridge. These changes, which are expected to remain in place for two years, aim to ensure safety and smooth vehicular movement during the construction period.
Bus routes A 25, 176, 305, 312, A 341, and 463 in the up direction will take a left turn at Ashok Mill Naka, proceed onto Sant Rohidas Road, take a right turn at the Yellow Bungalow signal (Y junction), and head towards Dharavi Depot. From Dharavi Depot, buses will take a left turn at Naik Nagar before resuming their regular routes.
In the down direction, the same bus routes will take a right turn at Naik Nagar, proceed along Sant Channayya Road, take a left turn at the Yellow Bungalow signal, and another left onto Sant Rohidas Road. At Ashok Mill Naka, the buses will take a right turn to continue along the 90 Feet Road before rejoining their scheduled routes.
Additionally, bus routes 11 LTD and 374 will temporarily terminate at Sion Barrier. These buses will take a U-turn at Sion Barrier, proceed via Dharavi Depot, and head towards the Yellow Bungalow signal before continuing on their regular routes.
To minimise inconvenience to passengers, additional bus stops have been introduced for routes A 25, 312, and 341 at Kalakilla Market on Sant Rohidas Road, Dharavi Depot on Sant Channayya Road, PMGP Colony, and Naik Nagar.
The ongoing bridge work at Sion Barrier Bridge is a major infrastructure project designed to improve connectivity in the area. However, the diversions may result in slight delays, and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has assured passengers that the diversions have been carefully planned to minimise disruption and ensure public safety. Regular updates will be provided to keep commuters informed, and citizens are encouraged to utilise the additional bus stops offered for convenience.
