Navi Mumbai: If everything proceeds according to plan, the Turbhe link road flyover, which has been closed for repairs since June 2024, will be reopened before the start of the monsoon season.
In June 2024, a portion of the cantilever of the flyover, connecting Sector 21 in Turbhe to Turbhe Store, was found to be detached. Following this discovery, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) ordered a structural inspection. The findings led to the closure of the section for safety concerns.
After reviewing the report from IIT-Bombay (IIT-B), the NMMC allocated a budget of Rs 12 crores for the necessary repairs.
Prashant Deshmukh, executive engineer at NMMC, confirmed that the repair work is expected to be completed in a timely manner. “The flyover is set to be repaired and reopened to traffic before the monsoon season, offering much-needed relief to the citizens,” Deshmukh assured.
He further stated, “Once the repairs are completed, the flyover will meet the safety standards as recommended by IIT-B, ensuring improved traffic flow and safety on this crucial route.”
