Two Day NMSF Science Utsav 2025 Concludes

Witnesses enthusiastic participation from teachers and students alike

Navi Mumbai Science Foundation (NMSF) a science led NGO in academic collaboration with one of the top Engineering colleges in India, the Pillai College of Engineering, New Panvel, celebrated the 14th edition of the  Science Utsav recently at Gujarat Bhavan, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

The inaugural day of the two-day program was dedicated to Teachers’ Conference based on the theme ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) in School education.  Dr. Chaitanya Giri, an internationally-renowned and award-winning space scientist, while delivering Prof. Chitra Natarajan Memorial Lecture, in presence of large gathering or academicians, emphasized on use of generative AI in developing teaching and learning contents for the school curriculum. 

During the felicitation, Dr. Jebin Joel, the President Teacher’s award winner (2019) known for developing a QR Code for effective use of e-content in teaching and learning of Physics,  emphasized the personal involvement while teaching goes a long way in successful teaching. 

During the course of the opening day experts in the field of AI and education delivered three invited lectures for the benefit of the participants. Further there were 15 presentations from teachers of various schools in Navi Mumbai.

The second day, that was dedicated to the students’ activity, saw twenty four teams of students of std. VI – IX (two) from 10 schools based in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai participate enthusiastically in the ‘Exhibition of Science Experiments’.  The exhibits were of very high quality and the judges had a very difficult time to choose the six prize winning entries.

Apeejay School Kharghar, Atomic Energy Central School Mumbai, Christ Academy Airoli, DAV Public School Airoli, Reliance Foundation Koparkhairane were among the prize winners.

Earlier Shailesh Malode, program coordinator, Akashvani, presided over the function.

Following the successful conclusion of the Science Utsav 2025, Dr. A. M. Bhagwat Chairman, NMSF said, “Navi Mumbai Science Foundation (NMSF) is a Science led NGO, dedicated to the cause of development of scientific culture in the society and scientific temperament among the student community, conducts a multitude of activities, in each academic year, which are focussed on building a problem-solving attitude and collaborative mindset”A.K. Rajarajan, Vice-Chairman, NMSF further added, “The Science Utsav program is one such initiative that provides teachers an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the latest trends in the field of education & strategies of knowledge transmission through ‘Teachers' Conference’. The same that was based on the ‘Field of AI and Education’ through invited lectures by subject matter experts was well attended by sixty participants including teachers and educators, school administrators and policymakers, EdTech developers from various institutes in MMR region. Further the ‘Exhibition of Science Experiments’ fostered hands-on approach to learn basics of science amongst students.
