A devastating fire erupted in a toy manufacturing company, D272 Gateway in Turbhe-MIDC on Tuesday, claiming the lives of two workers and leaving three others fortunate to survive. The blaze, which erupted between 11:00 and 11:30 AM, prompted an immediate response from firefighting teams belonging to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and MIDC.
Efforts to contain the inferno were underway when tragedy struck. Despite valiant attempts by firefighters to rescue all those trapped within the premises, two individuals succumbed to toxic smoke inhalation. The deceased have been identified as Jitendra Sharma (45), and Shabulla (28).
In response to the emergency, authorities swiftly evacuated nearby businesses, recognizing the potential threat posed by the rapidly spreading flames. Turbhe MIDC police, in coordination with fire officials, ensured the safety of workers in the vicinity.
