In a bid to ensure that major roads in the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation area remain free from encroachments, the Administrator and Commissioner, Vikas Dhakane has directed all Assistant Commissioners and Ward Committees to take strict action. The move comes after the growing issue of abandoned vehicles causing traffic congestion on key roads in the city.
A joint operation has been launched by Assistant Commissioners from Ward Committees No. 1 to 4, in collaboration with the Senior Police Inspector. The operation aims to remove vehicles that have been left unattended, blocking traffic flow and creating safety hazards.
Since December 1, 2024, authorities observed 49 abandoned vehicles parked on major roads. Notices were issued to vehicle owners, warning them to remove their vehicles in compliance with city regulations. Following the notices, 37 vehicles were successfully removed by their owners. However, a few vehicles remained unattended, prompting a further operation in partnership with the traffic police. As a result, 12 additional abandoned vehicles were collected and cleared from the roads.
The ongoing effort will continue to target abandoned vehicles on Ulhasnagar’s main roads, ensuring smoother traffic movement and maintaining the city's cleanliness and safety. The authorities have reiterated that strict action will be taken against individuals who fail to comply with the removal notices.
