In a significant step towards enhancing public safety and service delivery, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe inaugurated the new Ulwe Police Station on Monday. The new facility aims to improve security and provide efficient services to the rapidly growing population of the Ulwe area, which has now surpassed 2 lakhs, driven largely by CIDCO's extensive housing projects.
During the inauguration ceremony, Commissioner Bharambe emphasized the police's commitment to providing top-quality service to residents while implementing a variety of initiatives for the safety and welfare of women and other citizens, including senior citizens. He assured that the police will continue making concerted efforts to deliver all services in a transparent and timely manner, further benefiting the residents of Ulwe.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Uran MLA Mahesh Baldi, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Singh Yenpure, Additional Commissioner of Crime Branch Deepak Sakore, Deputy Commissioner of Police Prashant Mohite, Deputy Commissioner of Headquarters Sanjay Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Crime Branch Amit Kale, and Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Tirupati Kakade.
Explaining the rationale behind the establishment of the new police station, Commissioner Bharambe stated that considering the rapid growth in Ulwe’s population and the demand for safety in the area, a proposal for the Ulwe Police Station was submitted to the government. The approval for the new police station was facilitated by MLA Mahesh Baldi, aiming to ensure better security measures and improved services for the residents.
Commissioner Bharambe noted that the increased police presence in the area will help curb criminal activities, benefitting citizens, particularly women. He also acknowledged that while the construction of a permanent police station building will take time, he recommended setting up the police station temporarily in a CIDCO or other private building to avoid any inconvenience for both the police personnel and the citizens seeking police services.
MLA Mahesh Baldi, speaking at the event, suggested measures to improve public safety, such as shutting down the weekly market and addressing the fear of extortion in the area. He emphasized the importance of proactive measures by the police to create a safer environment for the people of Ulwe.
