The Maharashtra government has announced the appointment of IAS officer Manisha Awhale as the new Commissioner of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation. Awhale, who previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Pune Smart City, takes over from Vikas Dhakne, who was transferred to serve as Joint Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Manisha Awhale becomes the first woman to hold the position of Commissioner at Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation since its establishment in 1996.

This appointment comes after the temporary charge of the commissioner position was held by Additional Commissioner Jamir Lengrekar following Dhakne's transfer on January 8.
