UMC cracks down on illegal parking, collects Rs1.07 lakh in fine

The drive launched by Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) to check illegal parking has resulted in the collection of fines totalling Rs1.07 lakh. The drive, carried out by UMC officials along with the traffic police, targeted illegal parking outside Vithalwadi and Shahad railway stations.
UMC launched the drive after complaints of illegal pay and park operations near the stations. Acting on the specific information, Alka Pawar, Assistant Municipal Commissioner led the enforcement operation to penalize the offenders.
During the drive, fine totalling Rs40,000 was collected for illegal parking outside Vithalwadi railway station and Rs67,000 for the same activity outside Shahad station, totalling Rs1.07 lakh.
Speaking to the media, Ms Pawar reiterated UMC's commitment to combating unauthorised parking. “We will continue to take strict measures against unauthorised parking and urge citizens to report such activities,” she added.
