In a significant move, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) Commissioner Manisha Awhale has issued a directive ordering all municipal officers and employees who are local residents to immediately clear their pending property tax dues. Employees have been instructed to submit a zero-balance tax receipt as proof of payment.
Around 70 to 75 percent of the municipal staff reside within Ulhasnagar, making them liable for property tax payments. Under the directive, all employees across categories, including doctors, clerks, teachers, nurses, sanitation workers, electricians, security personnel, Anganwadi workers, and Asha workers must settle their dues during the ongoing final Abhay Yojana 2024-25, which runs from February 24 to March 18, 2025.
As part of the scheme, those paying their dues by March 6, 2025, will receive a 100% waiver on late penalties.
Failure to comply will invite legal and administrative action, warned the commissioner. The Property Tax Department has been directed to monitor compliance, and employees have been reminded that tax payments are crucial for the financial health of the corporation.
