Here’s some good news for the citizens of Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, Badlapur, and surrounding areas. The Ulhasnagar Municipal Transport Undertaking (UMTU) has launched a new AC bus service route A-201, connecting Kalyan-Badlapur starting 5th December 2024.
The route covers Kalyan railway station to Badlapur Station and return, including Kalyan West railway station, Vitthalwadi, Ulhasnagar Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, Ambernath West, Belavali, Dutt Chowk, and Badlapur Railway Station (West) and return journey.
Giving more information about the initiative, Vinod Kene, HOD, Transport, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, (UMC), said, “This is a trial run with five buses, while a total of 10 buses have been allotted for this route. Over the next 7-8 days, we will monitor operational challenges and address those issues with the assistance of the Depo Manager. Once resolved, we will roll out the remaining five buses. Currently, we are not calculating passenger load as this is a trial run”.
He further added, “In total, there would be 35 stops, with buses operating every 25-30 minutes. This initiative was made possible under the supervision and guidance of Vikas Dhakane, Commissioner, and Jamir Lengrekar, Additional Commissioner of UMC.”
Expressing her happiness, Meenakshi Iyer, a resident of Badlapur, said, “My sister stays at Dombivli, and visiting her in the morning hours has always been challenging. The trains are overcrowded, especially during peak hours, making it difficult to get down at Dombivli station. In most cases, I used to hire a cab. Now, with the introduction of AC, it is a big relief and undoubtedly much more convenient”.
