The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's (NMMC) Parks Department has come under scrutiny for failing to prune trees in a timely manner, resulting in extensive damage to municipal property valued at several lakhs of rupees. The incident in question occurred in the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Garden in Sector 48, Seawoods where a large tree fell, causing significant damage to a children's multi-ride play structure.

Former corporator Vishal Dolas has voiced strong criticism against the Parks Department, demanding accountability for the incident. "Why was tree pruning not done on time when it was our responsibility?" Dolas asked. He called for an immediate explanation from the concerned authorities regarding their failure to perform timely maintenance.

Dolas emphasized the need for urgent action to prevent similar incidents in the future. “If this incident has taught us anything, it is that other trees in the area must be pruned very quickly”, he stated. He also questioned the measures that will be taken to compensate for the damage and who will bear the responsibility for the lapse in duty.

The Parks Department has yet to issue a statement addressing the allegations and outlining their plan to mitigate further risks. Residents and local leaders are eagerly awaiting a response and concrete actions to ensure the safety and upkeep of public spaces in Navi Mumbai.
