Unseasonal rains brings chill weather to Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas

As the month of December sets in, the residents of Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas are experiencing an early cold snap, with temperatures dropping below 10 to 20 degrees Celsius. This sudden drop in temperature, following cloudy weather and unseasonal rains, has led to dip in temperatures.

According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area has formed over the South-East-West Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring rainfall to southern states between December 13 and 15. The department has also forecasted a further drop in temperatures across the state, with night temperatures likely to hover between 18 to 22 degrees Celsius.

In addition, the impact of Cyclone Fengal has subsided, leading to a noticeable temperature decrease in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Panvel. On Monday, the temperature in Mumbai and its suburbs ranged between 17 to 20 degrees Celsius, with Navi Mumbai also starting to feel the chill.

The Meteorological Department has highlighted that temperatures are expected to remain low for the next 5 to 7 days, further contributing to the onset of winter.
