Social worker criticizes administration for negligence

The main highway connecting Uran to Karanja is marred with numerous potholes, raising serious safety concerns. Social worker Sachin Daur has voiced his concerns, emphasizing the urgent need for repairs to prevent potential accidents, especially with the monsoon approaching.

The Uran-Karanja road is a crucial route for the 25,000 to 30,000 residents of the Chanje village panchayat. It serves not only as a vital link to the Uran market but also as a key access point for passengers traveling by water from Uran to Alibag. The development of Karanja port has led to an increase in heavy vehicle traffic on this road, exacerbating the deterioration. Notably, the sections at Daur Nagar and Mulekhand have become particularly hazardous.

Sachin Daur has called on the Public Works Department of Uran, Zilla Parishad, CIDCO, and the Chanje Group Gram Panchayat to address these urgent repairs before the onset of the monsoon season. He stressed that the current state of the road poses a significant risk to all users.

In response, Ajay Mhatre, the Sarpanch of Chanje, assured that while the complete repair of the Uran-Karanja road is scheduled post-monsoon, immediate measures will be taken at the Gram Panchayat level to fill the potholes and mitigate the danger.

“The work will start after the monsoon. Before that, the work of filling the potholes will be taken up at the Gram Panchayat level before monsoon,” said Ajay Mhatre.
