The long-anticipated second phase of the Nerul to Uran Local Railway, connecting Uran to Kharkopar, is scheduled to begin on October 26. Local train services will run on this route. According to railway sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the service by waving the green flag.

Consequently, the dream of Uran residents to have a railway connection to Mumbai, nurtured over many years, is set to be realised before Diwali.

The administration has given an indication that they will inaugurate the Navi Mumbai Metro with a program in Kharghar on October 26. Preparations for this event are currently underway, and the entire system is working towards its successful execution. Furthermore, work on the railway line from Uran to Kharkopar has been accelerated.

On Monday at 5:00 pm, an inspection of the electrical system on this line was conducted at Uran railway station. Work in the vicinity of the stations is also progressing rapidly, including station cleaning. Inspections of notice boards, time boards, and other related items are also being carried out.

The work on the Targhar station between Nerul and Kharkopar, as well as the Gavan station between Kharkopar and Uran on this route, remains incomplete. Although it is expected to be completed by February 2024, the local train service from Nerul to Kharkopar was initiated in 2018 despite the unfinished work at Targhar station.
