The Vashi Traffic Branch has launched a significant crackdown on rickshaw drivers, taking action against 391 drivers for violating traffic regulations. This campaign was initiated on the orders of Deputy Commissioner of Police Tirupati Kakade and carried out under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Dilip Gujar.

In recent days, there has been an alarming trend of rickshaw drivers carrying more passengers than allowed. Many drivers were also found operating without the mandated uniforms or badges, making it difficult for passengers to report any misconduct.

In response to increasing complaints from passengers to the transport department regarding these violations, the authorities have emphasized the importance of adherence to traffic rules. As part of this initiative, rickshaw drivers and owners have been educated about the necessity of following regulations.

The operation resulted in the collection of fines totalling Rs.1,85,400 across the 391 cases. Inspector Gujar stated that the enforcement actions will continue, with ongoing efforts to raise awareness among rickshaw drivers and owners about the importance of compliance with traffic regulations for the safety of all road users.
