Vashi will witness temporary traffic restrictions on March 30, as part of preparations for a Shobha Yatra celebrating Gudi Padwa. The event is organised by the Hindu New Year Welcome Procession Committee, Vashi.
Authorities from the Navi Mumbai Traffic Unit have announced that vehicular movement will be restricted between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to facilitate the smooth passage of the procession and ensure public safety. The affected route extends from Blue Diamond Chowk to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in sector 17, Vashi.
Procession details and alternative routes
The event is set to draw an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 participants, including senior citizens, traditional dhol Pathak (drum troupes), and decorated floats. 150 to 200 motorcycles, seven horses, seven thematic trailers, and two tractors will add to the spectacle.
To ease congestion, motorists traveling from Kopar Khairane to Vashi Railway Station are advised to take an alternate route via Blue Diamond Chowk, Kopri Signal, and Palm Beach Road.
The traffic advisory has been issued under Sections 115 and 116(1)(a)(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act. However, essential services such as police vehicles, fire brigades, and ambulances will be exempt from these restrictions. Travellers are urged to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with authorities,
