This year marks the 51st celebration of the Navratri Festival at the Sitladevi Temple in Wadeghar, Kalyan West. The atmosphere is filled with joy and enthusiasm as devotees and workers come together to seek blessings of the goddess. The festival not only celebrates religious traditions but also emphasizes a commitment to arts, sports, cultural activities, medical initiatives, and social work, continuing an unbroken legacy of community service.

The origins of this festival date back to 1973 when the late Vishnu Bhoir, a prominent social worker from Kalyan and a native of Wadeghar, along with local youth, established the "Shri Ekvira Sarvajanik Mitra Mandal" to promote social work. This initiative has since been pivotal in driving various community-oriented programs.

Over the past 51 years, the organizing board has implemented numerous initiatives, including health camps, student guidance programs, and women's awareness workshops, all aimed at enhancing community welfare. Notable events such as the “Sri Sitladevi Navratri Festival,” “Independence Day,” “Republic Day,” “Maghi Ganeshotsav,” and “Kojagiri Poornima Festival” have become integral parts of the cultural landscape.

Rajeev Bhoir, a member of the organizing committee, remarked, “The sapling of social work planted by our founders in 1973 has blossomed into a banyan tree, symbolizing our growth and unity.” As part of the celebrations, the community is encouraged to participate in various religious and cultural activities leading up to Dussehra and Kojagiri Poornima.

Devotees are invited to take part in the 51st anniversary celebrations and seek blessings from Shri Durga Devi.
