Water Supply Minister Gulabrao Patil inspects Jal Jeevan Mission projects in Thane

State Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Gulabrao Patil conducted a detailed inspection of various water supply projects in Thane district, emphasizing the need for timely and efficient implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission. The minister issued strict instructions to officials and contractors to complete all assigned work promptly and operate water supply schemes at full capacity.
During his visit to Padagha, Vashind, Asangaon, Cherpoli, and Khardi, Minister Patil reviewed ongoing projects and discussed challenges with district water supply officials. He was accompanied by MLA Shantaram More, Thane Zilla Parishad CEO Chhayadevi Shisode, Jal Jeevan Mission Project Director Pramod Kale, and other senior officials from the Maharashtra Jeevan Authority.
Speaking about the initiative, Minister Patil highlighted the significance of the "Har Ghar Jal, Har Ghar Nal" campaign, stating, “This is a dream project for our country. The tour aims to identify and resolve issues related to stalled or incomplete water supply schemes to ensure the mission’s success.”
Minister Patil also commended the efforts of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in expediting dam construction in the district and assured residents that all pending dam works would be prioritized.
During the visit, Minister Patil noted that some works were stalled due to delays in forest department clearances, land disputes, and infrastructure gaps. He assured that immediate steps would be taken to resolve these issues, enabling smooth execution of the projects.
Key Updates on Jal Jeevan Mission in Thane
- 1,047 works are underway in Thane district under the mission.
- 720 projects for tap water supply have been completed.
- 327 works for domestic tap connections are in progress.
- 7 projects in Shahapur taluka have not commenced due to pending wildlife permissions, land disputes, and road facility issues.
- 51 projects have started but are currently halted, with efforts underway to resume work.
