Workers in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) have expressed frustration over the lack of attention to their demands, despite their significant contributions to the Swachh Abhiyan.
The workers who have been holding continued protests since December 28, 2024 have now started a fast-unto-death protest from 30th December, 2024.
“As of today, the hunger strike has been ongoing for three days, but municipal officials have not responded to the workers’ calls for discussion. Workers are voicing concerns that their legitimate demands are being deliberately ignored, despite their critical role in the municipal corporation’s achievements, including various awards. If the agitation escalates, municipal officials will be held fully responsible for the consequences”, said Mangesh Lad, secretary of the Samaj Samata Kamgar Sanghatana.
