The long-awaited theatre project in Sector 5, Airoli, is finally nearing completion, following years of delays that have frustrated local residents and artists alike. However, the project has once again come into the spotlight, this time due to rising concerns regarding the safety of workers on site.

As the exterior plastering of the theatre progresses, alarming reports have surfaced indicating that workers are not equipped with essential safety gear. Local residents have revealed that labourers lack basic protective equipment such as rubber boots, helmets, harnesses, and gloves. This situation has raised significant concerns among citizens about the potential for accidents and who will be held responsible if any mishaps occur.

In response to these safety concerns, Junior Engineer Jitendra Naik said, “Safety equipment is indeed provided to the workers, but they often choose not to use it”.
