A book so big that it takes 10 people to turn its pages has earned a place in the Guinness World Records. Titled Luceros y Penumbras (Starlight and Shadows), the giant pop-up book was created by Los Angeles artist Daniel González to mark the centenary of the Los Angeles Public Library. Unveiled on July 2, the installation stands 11 feet tall and weighs 816.5 kg. When opened, its cover expands into a spectacular 9-metre-wide scene featuring buildings, animals, people and swirling blue skies. Made from traditional book materials, the artwork required a team of 35 people to construct. The record-breaking creation is displayed free at the Richard J. Riordan Central Library in Los Angeles through the end of 2026.
