The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has urged the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry to conduct an impartial review of Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Suryaa – Ant Se Aarambh Tak, scheduled for release on November 20.
In a letter to Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the association objected to the film’s portrayal of healthcare corruption, alleged medical misconduct and attacks on doctors, nurses and hospital staff. It warned that such depictions could unfairly undermine public trust in the medical profession.
The IMA said individual wrongdoing should be addressed through legal and disciplinary action, without tarnishing the reputation of honest healthcare professionals. It also cautioned that portraying violence against medical staff as justified could normalise attacks on them.
The controversy followed the release of the film’s teaser on October 19. The cast includes Ravi Kishan, Pragya Jaiswal, Jisshu Sengupta and Manish Wadhwa.
