Navi Mumbai: A 21-year-old airport ground staffer was seriously injured after her boyfriend allegedly stabbed her multiple times outside Nerul railway station on Monday morning, October 20, over suspicion of another relationship.
The victim, Sadiya Zahir Shaikh, a resident of Wadala, was attacked near the bus stop at the station’s east entrance around 6.45 am. She suffered stab wounds to her back, abdomen, neck, and chest and was rushed to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation hospital in Vashi. She is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit and is reported to be stable.
According to police, Sadiya and the accused, Danish Mohammed Ansari, 27, had been in a relationship for four years and planned to marry. However, tensions reportedly escalated after Danish suspected she was involved with another man. He had allegedly assaulted and harassed her previously, prompting her to distance herself from him.
On Monday, Danish allegedly followed Sadiya after she boarded a local train from GTB Nagar and attacked her upon reaching Nerul station before fleeing.
The Nerul police arrested him within hours. Senior Police Inspector Ajay Kamble confirmed that the woman’s condition was stable and the accused had been arrested.
Police registered a case under Sections 109(1), 351(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police Sub-Inspector Bipin Tutuswad is investigating the case.
