Panvel: A 28-year-old man allegedly attacked his colleague with a broken beer bottle during a dispute over an old feud at a hotel near Palaspe Phata in Panvel on October 12. The victim, Salman Jamadar Pathan (30), sustained serious neck injuries and is undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital in Kamothe.

The Panvel City Police have arrested the accused, Kishor Sanjay Akolkar (28), and registered a case of attempted murder against him.

Both men hail from Ahilyanagar and work as drivers. According to police, they knew each other and had reportedly been involved in an earlier dispute, which is suspected to have triggered the attack.

The incident occurred at Hotel Rahul Park near Palaspe Phata, where the two men were present with their friends. At around 11 am, an argument allegedly broke out between them over their past disagreement.

The argument soon escalated, with Akolkar allegedly smashing a beer bottle and attacking Pathan’s neck with the broken glass. The injured man was immediately rushed to MGM Hospital for medical treatment.

Following the assault, the accused allegedly fled the scene. The Panvel City Police registered a case on Monday night under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempted murder.

Police subsequently traced and arrested Akolkar. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
