Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on October 14 issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in isolated areas of Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, warning residents to take precautions against intense heat.
The weather department also forecast hot and humid conditions in isolated parts of Thane district, which could increase discomfort, particularly during afternoon hours.
Mumbai recorded temperatures of 36.5 degrees Celsius at Colaba and 38.2 degrees Celsius at Santacruz, according to the IMD’s morning report.
Residents, especially senior citizens, outdoor workers and commuters, have been advised to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, remain hydrated and take breaks in shaded or cool places.
The alert urges people to monitor official weather updates as hot conditions persist across the region.
