Nerul: ‘Respect women throughout the year,’ is the strong social message spread by the Samruddhi Seva Bhavi Sanstha during the nine-day celebration organized in Sector 6, Nerul garden. Speaking to Newsband, Suraj Balaram Patil, BJP corporator of Ward No. 23, organizer and husband of Navi Mumbai Mayor Sujata Patil, said, “The mandal’s message extends beyond the nine days of Navratri; women deserve respect throughout the year.”

Women’s safety is a key focus of the celebrations. Volunteers have been deployed at the venue to help ensure that women and families can participate in the festivities in a safe and respectful environment. The key theme of the celebrations remains women’s safety and drug addiction awareness, stated the organizers.

Explaining the initiative, Patil added, “Women should feel comfortable and secure while attending the celebrations with their families.” He emphasised that the volunteers are expected to treat everyone respectfully and help maintain women’s dignity at the venue.

“Women’s power is not just in the form of Goddess Durga, but they are also in the form of our sisters, mothers and wives at home,” he said, stressing the importance of creating a secure and welcoming environment. He added that the arrangements are intended to help women enjoy the festivities without feeling uncomfortable or unsafe.

“This time, the programme is being conducted with the slogan and resolve of freedom from addiction,” Patil said, highlighting the aim of promoting a drug-free Navi Mumbai and keeping the younger generation away from substance abuse.

As part of the awareness campaign, the mandal has invited people to submit slogans, essays and other written material against drug consumption. Prizes and gifts are being offered to encourage participation and spread awareness about addiction and its harmful effects.
