Jaipur: An Air India flight travelling from Frankfurt, Germany, to Delhi made an emergency landing at Jaipur International Airport on October 14 following a security alert that was initially reported as a bomb threat. The threat was later described as a hoax, officials said.
Flight AI 2030, operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, landed safely in Jaipur at around 9.45 am, approximately 280 km from its intended destination. All passengers and crew members were reported safe.
Airport authorities and security personnel approached the aircraft cautiously after landing. The plane was subjected to thorough security checks before passengers were allowed to disembark.
The incident prompted a high-level security response at the airport, with authorities following precautionary procedures similar to those used during a suspected hijacking situation.
However, reports differed over the nature of the alert. While initial accounts described it as a bomb threat, other reports cited a possible hijacking-related warning. Preliminary information suggested that the alert might have resulted from an error, but the circumstances remained under investigation.
The aircraft was diverted to Jaipur as a precaution while security agencies assessed the situation. Officials were working to establish how the alert originated and what prompted the diversion.
Air India said affected passengers were being offered complimentary rescheduling options or a full refund in case of cancellations.
Further details about the incident were awaited as authorities continued their investigation.
