NCP slams Ulhasnagar hospital over poor facilities
Ulhasnagar: The poor condition and inadequate facilities at Government Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar have triggered strong criticism from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) following a surprise inspection by party leaders.
The delegation, led by Kalyan Lok Sabha Constituency President Mahesh Tapase and Ulhasnagar City District President Seema Ahuja, inspected various hospital departments and raised concerns over overcrowding, malfunctioning equipment, and unhygienic conditions.
The maternity ward emerged as a major concern, with 110 female patients reportedly accommodated in a facility designed for just 40 beds. As a result, several pregnant women and new mothers were forced to sleep on the floor. The delegation also found that the hospital’s CT scan machine had been non-functional for over a year, while a newly installed X-ray machine remained unused pending its official inauguration.
Poor food quality and unhygienic toilets and restrooms were also highlighted. Tapase and Ahuja demanded immediate action to address the shortages and restore diagnostic services. They urged BJP MLA Kumar Ailani to intervene and appealed to Union Minister Chirag Paswan to take up the matter in the interest of poor and needy patients.
Ailani stated, “Continuous efforts were underway with the state government to upgrade the hospital into a 400-bed facility, assuring that the demand would be fulfilled soon.”
Hospital officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “The hospital was established in 1993 and patient numbers have increased significantly without a corresponding expansion in bed capacity.” They added that repeated proposals had been submitted to the state government seeking additional beds.”
