Mumbai: The Railway Department and Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) jointly organised a Rail Jan Samvaad programme at Govandi railway station under Special Campaign 6.0 to gather passenger feedback on station facilities and ongoing improvement works.
During the interaction, passengers raised concerns over platform renovation, inadequate lighting, cleanliness and the need for escalators. They also suggested measures to improve women’s safety and provide better facilities for senior citizens.
Commuters highlighted the need for adequate lighting within and around the station premises and called for regular housekeeping to maintain cleanliness. They also expressed concern over the condition of the station’s toilets, urging authorities to ensure regular cleaning and proper maintenance.
Passengers suggested installing escalators to make movement between platforms easier and reduce the difficulties faced by commuters while using stairs.
Women’s safety was another key issue, with passengers calling for improved lighting and appropriate security measures within and around the station. They also sought facilities to make movement through the station more convenient for senior citizens.
The Rail Jan Samvaad initiative was organised to provide passengers with a platform to communicate their concerns and suggestions directly to railway representatives.
The feedback received during the programme is expected to help authorities identify areas requiring attention and improve station facilities, with the aim of making rail travel safer and more convenient for commuters.
