St. Louis (Missouri): Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa created history by becoming the first Indian to win the Grand Chess Tour, staging a stunning comeback to beat defending champion Fabiano Caruana 15-13 in the final held here. Praggnanandhaa began the final day six points behind Caruana but won both rapid games to take the lead, then held on through four blitz games to seal the victory. With the win, he took home a prize of $200,000 and also earned a guaranteed spot in next year's Grand Chess Tour.

In the match for third place, Wesley So made a strong comeback against Vincent Keymer. Both players shared the rapid games equally, but So then won all four blitz games to triumph 18-12. Earlier in the tournament, Praggnanandhaa had lost the first classical game to Caruana 6-0. However, he drew the second game 3-3, keeping his hopes of winning alive before his remarkable turnaround on the final day.
