Uran: The Navi Mumbai unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Mandal Officer, a Talathi and a private woman assistant in connection with an alleged Rs 1 lakh bribery case in Uran taluka.

The accused have been identified as Keshav Dagdu Mohite (52), Mandal Officer at Koproli; Jayhind Birsha Koli (49), Gram Revenue Officer (Talathi) at Saja-Chirner; and Monika Vignesh Patil (36), a private assistant working at the Mandal Officer’s office in Koproli.

According to the ACB, the complainant approached the revenue authorities for mutation of the legal heirs of his deceased sister and removal of his deceased brother’s name from the 7/12 land record of a property in Chirner. The complainant alleged that Mohite and Koli demanded Rs 1 lakh to complete the process.

Following the complaint submitted on October 1, the ACB conducted verification on October 5 in the presence of government witnesses. During the verification, Mohite was allegedly found demanding the bribe, while Koli allegedly encouraged the complainant to make the payment.

The ACB subsequently laid a trap. Mohite allegedly directed the complainant to hand over the money to Patil. After receiving the Rs 1 lakh, Patil allegedly handed it over to Mohite, following which both were caught red-handed.

Talathi Koli was later taken into custody from Dronagiri. A case has been registered against all three under Sections 7 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
