CIDCO seizes 15 dumpers in a crackdown

Navi Mumbai: CIDCO has intensified its crackdown on illegal dumping of construction debris and waste, seizing 15 dumpers in a single-day operation across Navi Mumbai, Panvel, and Uran on August 11.
The joint action by CIDCO’s Security and Engineering Departments, in coordination with local police, targeted vehicles allegedly involved in transporting and dumping soil, debris, and untreated waste on CIDCO-acquired land and vacant plots. Cases have been registered against the drivers at seven police stations.
Five dumpers were seized under the jurisdiction of Ulwe Police Station while allegedly being used to dump untreated waste considered hazardous to public health. Three debris-laden dumpers were intercepted near Vashi Toll Naka, while another three were seized near DNA Marine Services on the Gavan Phata–Chirner Road in Uran.
In Panvel City Police limits, one dumper was caught near the Kundevahal–Palspe to JNPT Highway service road. Another was seized near Gram Vikas Bhavan in Kharghar Sector 22, while one was intercepted on the Uran Phata–Killa Junction road in CBD. Police also seized a debris-laden dumper in Rabale.
CIDCO officials said, "Illegal dumping damages public land and creates environmental and health risks. Residents and activists have urged authorities to act against not only drivers but also the operators behind the illegal dumping network."
CIDCO Chief Vigilance Officer Suresh Mengde said, "The drive aims to protect CIDCO land and prevent activities that endanger the environment and public health."
“Despite repeated enforcement drives, those continuing to violate the rules are being booked under stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with no compromise,” Mengde said.
He added, “The crackdown will continue, and strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible.”
