NMMC announces rabies vaccination drive for stray and pet dogs

Belapur: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced a citywide rabies vaccination drive for stray and pet dogs in view of World Rabies Day.
The drive will be conducted by In Defence of Animals as per government guidelines and under the directions of NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde.
The vaccination programme will begin in Belapur on October 1 from 8 am to 2 pm. It will continue in Nerul on October 2, Vashi on October 3, Turbhe on October 5, Kopar Khairane on October 6, Ghansoli on October 7, Airoli on October 8 and Digha on October 9.
The civic body has appealed to residents to ensure that their pet dogs are vaccinated and to cooperate with teams carrying out the vaccination of stray dogs in their respective areas.
NMMC officials said the initiative aims to control the spread of rabies, improve animal health management and create awareness about the importance of timely vaccination.
