Ulhasnagar Cha Raja marks 49 years with grand celebrations

Ulhasnagar: Thousands of devotees are visiting the Ganesh Mitra Mandal, popularly known as ‘Ulhasnagar Cha Raja’, in Ulhasnagar-1, as the mandal continues its 49-year-old tradition of celebrating Ganeshotsav with grandeur and devotion.

The mandal’s annual festivities have remained a major attraction for residents, with large crowds gathering to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The celebrations feature a grand procession marked by dhol-tasha performances, decorated tableaux and enthusiastic participation by devotees.

This year, the mandal has created an elaborate replica inspired by the ‘Contra Dam’, which has emerged as one of the main attractions for visitors. The decorated pandal, elaborate lighting arrangements and imposing Ganesha idol have added to the festive atmosphere, drawing devotees throughout the 11-day celebration.

The mandal has also combined its religious activities with several social welfare initiatives. Gurdeep Singh, popularly known as ‘Boxer’, president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, said the organisation conducts various community-oriented programmes during the festival.

These initiatives include free medical camps, bhajan sandhyas and food distribution drives for farmers and orphaned children. Organisers said the activities are intended to extend the spirit of the festival beyond religious celebrations and encourage community participation.

Singh appealed to residents to visit the pandal in large numbers, seek Lord Ganesha’s blessings and participate in the social initiatives being organised during the festival.

With its long-standing tradition, elaborate decorations and welfare activities, Ulhasnagar Cha Raja continues to remain a prominent attraction during Ganeshotsav in the city.
