New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticised the demolition of houses along Ayodhya’s 14-Kosi Parikrama route, alleging that affected residents were not provided adequate notice, compensation or rehabilitation. He said that if the SP returns to power in Uttar Pradesh, his government would provide compensation to those impacted by the action.

The demolition was carried out as part of the expansion of the pilgrimage route. The Ayodhya administration said the structures removed were identified during the project planning and maintained that due process was followed. Officials also stated that compensation had been provided to some affected residents.

Yadav alleged that families displaced due to development projects in Ayodhya had faced difficulties due to inadequate rehabilitation measures. He linked the latest action to earlier land acquisitions connected with infrastructure development around the Ram Temple.

The SP chief accused the BJP-led state government of ignoring residents’ concerns while carrying out major projects. He said affected families should receive fair compensation and support.

The issue has led to political debate in Uttar Pradesh, with opposition parties questioning the rehabilitation process, while authorities have defended the demolition as part of planned development work.
