Mumbai: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a “Jail Bharo Andolan” in Mumbai after police denied permission for the party’s proposed demonstration at Shivaji Park on October 2.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced the agitation a day after Mumbai Police refused permission for the planned gathering. Despite the denial, Dipke proposed Shivaji Park as the venue for the protest, stating that the party would proceed with the agitation over issues related to the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Earlier, Dipke had said that the party would launch a “Jail Bharo Andolan” if authorities rejected permission for its demonstration. The announcement comes amid ongoing discussions surrounding the proposed October 2 protest, which is scheduled on Gandhi Jayanti.

The party has not yet announced details regarding the expected number of participants, the route of the protest or the programme schedule. Police officials are expected to monitor developments and take necessary measures to maintain law and order.

Authorities have made it clear that any gathering at Shivaji Park without official permission could lead to legal action. The police decision to deny permission was based on maintaining public order and regulating gatherings at designated locations.
