Navi Mumbai: With cyber fraud and digital scams on the rise, Rotary Club Navi Mumbai Sunrise organised a Cyber Security & Digital Safety Awareness Session at Satyagraha College, Kharghar, Pethpada, on October 5. The programme was held to mark National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and was conducted in association with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Mumbai Chapter.

The session was attended by 73 first-year students and faculty members from the B.Com., B.Sc. and Information Technology streams.

Cybersecurity experts Rupesh Kumar Srivastava and K. G. Ayyar of ISACA Mumbai Chapter explained common cyber threats and shared practical safety measures for using mobile apps, social media, online banking and other digital platforms. “To avoid any kind of financial trap, it is most important to take extra precautions and protect personal and financial information while carrying out any online transaction,” they cautioned.

They further stressed, “In today’s rapidly growing digital world, awareness is our first line of defence.” They urged young people and senior citizens to remain alert and remember that when an offer appears too good to be true, “nothing is free.”

Rotary Club Navi Mumbai Sunrise President Chhaya Taralekar said, “The club would organise more programmes for adults and senior citizens. Next month, we are going to conduct an important Cyber Fraud Awareness Session as part of our regular meeting.”
