New Delhi: India has taken up a naval incident with Pakistan through diplomatic channels after a Pakistan Navy vessel collided with an Indian Navy warship in the North Arabian Sea on September 15.

According to government sources, the Indian warship was carrying out a routine surveillance mission in international waters when the Pakistani vessel approached at high speed and carried out what officials described as an “unprofessional and unsafe” manoeuvre, resulting in the collision.

No damage has been reported from the incident, and authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the encounter and the movements of both vessels.

On September 16, Pakistan’s top diplomatic representative in New Delhi was summoned by the Indian government, which conveyed its concerns over the conduct of the Pakistani vessel. India also urged Pakistan to take note of the incident and ensure that such actions are not repeated.

Officials reiterated that safe navigation and freedom of movement in international waters remain important principles for maritime security.

The incident comes amid heightened naval activity in the Arabian Sea, where the Indian Navy continues to monitor developments through its maritime security networks.

India and Pakistan have previously relied on military communication channels to manage incidents involving their armed forces and prevent escalation. The latest episode involves naval vessels operating in international waters and is separate from recent commercial shipping incidents reported in the region.
