Thane: Chess enthusiasts from across Maharashtra and other parts of the country will converge in Thane for the 5th Pinnacle FIDE-rated Rapid Chess Tournament, scheduled to be held at Korum Mall on September 27.

Organised by Pinnacle Chess Events in association with Korum Mall and the Thane District Chess Association (TDCA), the tournament will bring together young emerging players and experienced chess competitors for a day of intense rapid-format matches.

The event is recognised by the All-India Chess Federation (AICF) and FIDE, with rated games being conducted under the Thane District Chess Association and Maharashtra Chess Association. The tournament aims to further promote competitive chess and provide players with a platform to showcase their strategic skills.

Rapid chess, known for its faster pace and time-bound decision-making, will test players’ accuracy, concentration and ability to adapt quickly during matches. Participants will compete for a total prize pool of ₹3 lakh.

The organisers have also introduced special categories and awards for physically challenged and visually impaired participants, highlighting the inclusive nature of the sport and encouraging wider participation.

The tournament will be held at the Main Atrium of Korum Mall from 9 am onwards. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness competitive chess action and experience the skill, discipline and strategic thinking displayed by players.
