Mumbai: The idol of Lalbaugcha Raja was immersed in the Arabian Sea at Girgaon Chowpatty on September 26, ahead of the expected high tide. The immersion was completed at 10:46 a.m., before the forecast high tide of 4.27 metres at 11:31 a.m. Authorities had made arrangements to ensure the smooth movement of devotees and prevent delays during the immersion process.

Last year, the immersion of Lalbaugcha Raja had been delayed due to high tide conditions, making this year’s timely completion significant for organisers and devotees.

Meanwhile, Mumbai witnessed large-scale immersion activity on the 12th day of the Ganesh festival. According to civic authorities, 34,806 Ganesh idols had been immersed across the city by 9 am on Saturday, September 26. The figure included 6,604 public Ganesh idols, 27,649 household idols and 553 Gauri idols.

Officials said no untoward incident had been reported during the immersion process until morning. Security personnel, civic workers and emergency teams remained deployed at major immersion points across the city.

Police and civic authorities continued monitoring key locations as thousands of devotees gathered to bid farewell to Lord Ganesha.

The immersion of Lalbaugcha Raja, one of Mumbai’s most prominent Ganesh idols, marked a major moment in the city’s Ganeshotsav celebrations, bringing the festival to a close amid traditional chants and devotional fervour.
