Navi Mumbai: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed three major competitive examinations, including the State Services Main Examination 2026, which was scheduled to begin on October 3, 2026.

The Maharashtra Civil Engineering Services Main Examination 2026 and Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination 2026 have also been deferred. The commission said, “Revised dates for all three examinations will be announced separately.”

The decision follows objections raised by candidates and student organisations over the evaluation of answer sheets for the State Services Main Examination 2025. After considering the concerns, the commission has decided to conduct a re-evaluation of the answer sheets, a process expected to require additional time.

Meanwhile, a high-level committee appointed by the state government is reviewing Maharashtra’s existing examination system. The committee has consulted candidates and other stakeholders across the state and examined various practices while preparing recommendations for an improved examination system.

The commission also received representations from students, parents, student organisations and some public representatives seeking postponement of the State Services Main Examination 2026.

After considering the ongoing re-evaluation, the government committee’s review and the representations received, the MPSC decided to defer all three examinations.

Candidates have been advised to take note of the decision and wait for the commission’s separate notification announcing the revised examination schedule.
