Navi Mumbai: A Shivshahi bus driver was allegedly assaulted after four men travelling in a car intercepted a state transport bus in the APMC area on September 21 night. The accused allegedly stopped the bus, dragged the driver out, abused him and assaulted him before fleeing the spot.

The APMC police have registered a case against the four unidentified men for allegedly obstructing a government employee while he was performing his duty and assaulting him. Police are now working to identify and trace the accused.

The complainant, Balaji Kamble (40), is a driver with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). On September 20, he was driving Shivshahi bus MH-09-M-2188 from Thane towards Alibag.

According to the complaint, at around 8 pm, when the bus reached Varana Circle near Mafco Market in the APMC area, a car bearing registration number MH-06-W-8307 allegedly overtook the bus and blocked its path.

The four men then allegedly approached Kamble, caught hold of him, and tried to forcibly pull him out of the bus. They reportedly abused him using obscene language and assaulted him with kicks and punches.

The incident caused panic among passengers travelling on the bus. After allegedly assaulting the driver, the four men fled in their car.

Kamble subsequently approached the APMC police station and lodged a complaint. Police registered a case under Sections 132, 115(2), 352 and 35(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
