Tight security in city ahead of Anant Chaturdashi

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Police have deployed a massive security arrangement across the city for Anant Chaturdashi to ensure peaceful immersion processions and prevent any untoward incidents.

Within the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate limits, 1,044 public and 1,02,369 household Ganesh idols were installed this year. Immersions of idols brought for one-and-a-half, two-and-a-half, five, six and seven days, along with 7,104 Gauri idols, have already been completed peacefully.

For the final immersion day, the police have deployed seven Deputy Commissioners of Police, 10 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 65 police inspectors, 229 assistant police inspectors and sub-inspectors, along with 2,032 police personnel.

“Citizens should immerse Ganesh idols peacefully, avoid believing rumours and immediately inform police about any suspicious activity,” said DCP Yogesh Chavan.

Additional forces, including 20 striking teams, two Rapid Response teams, two QRTs, 113 Home Guards, wardens and SRPF personnel, have also been deployed.

Security checks will be conducted at 16 major immersion points, including Vashi, Koparkhairane, Nerul, CBD Belapur, Airoli, Kharghar, Panvel and Uran. CCTV cameras have been installed at these locations, while drone cameras and the police command and control centre will monitor processions and crowd movement.

Trained Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads will inspect immersion sites before the celebrations. Anti-noise pollution squads have also been formed at police stations to monitor sound levels and take action against violations.
