Warli Art adds an eco-friendly touch to Somani Family’s Ganeshotsav

Kalyan: Ganeshotsav is not just a religious festival but also an opportunity to promote environmental conservation and strengthen family bonds, believes the Ramesh Somani family of Kalyan. Continuing this thought, the family is celebrating this year’s Ganeshotsav in a simple and eco-friendly manner.

For the arrival of Lord Ganesha, the Somani family decided to opt for completely eco-friendly decorations. Instead of depending on ready-made decorative items available in the market, family members created an attractive makhar, or decorative backdrop, for the idol using their own creativity and traditional Warli art.

The handmade decoration combines the rich cultural heritage of Warli painting with environmentally friendly materials, reflecting the family’s commitment to celebrating the festival in a sustainable and creative manner. The initiative conveys the message that religious traditions and cultural practices can be preserved without causing harm to nature.

The celebration has also brought the entire Somani family together. Every member has participated in decorating the space, performing the puja and serving Lord Ganesha. Their collective involvement has added to the devotional and joyful atmosphere at home.

The family believes that celebrating the festival together makes the occasion even more meaningful. “The joy of coming together as a family to serve Bappa cannot be expressed in words. We pray that Bappa’s blessings always remain with our entire family,” the Somani family said.
